Charazoi Medical Clinic

Why Do We Need Health Screening?

A health screening or medical checkup is a series of tests and examinations to check how well the various organs in our body are working. The purpose is to detect hidden health issues before you develop symptoms. It is beneficial for people of all ages and health status, since prevention is the best cure. In case a health condition has developed, early detection often allows for more effective and less costly treatment options.

A typical health checkup involves consultation with a doctor, physical exams, blood test, urine test, stool test, X-ray and other screenings for common high risk diseases such as high cholesterol, diabetes, heart, kidney, liver and lung disease. The scope and frequency of screening depend on your age, overall health, family history, lifestyle habits and other risk factors.

Which Health Screening Package Is For Me?

We recommend the Essential Health Screening package for all adults, at least once every 2 years for people under the age of 40 and annually for people aged 40 and above. However, your individual profile and circumstance may require additional tests, such as before you tie the knot or when you develop certain risk factors.

You may also be personally interested to find out your unique epigenetic blueprint and biological age. Or you may be concerned about your risk of developing certain cancers and want to take early preventive measures. These tests are available as customised add-ons to standard health screening packages after consultation with our doctors.

Please feel free to consult the Charazoi team to determine the most suitable health screening package for you.

FAQ - What Do The Above Tests Mean for Me?

Below is a rundown of the significance of the tests listed in the our different packages:

  • Haematology Profile helps detect underlying blood disorders such as anaemia, leukaemia and bleeding issues.
  • Renal Profile assesses your kidney function.
  • Diabetic Profile measures your fasting blood glucose to detect diabetes.
  • Bone/Joint Profile assesses the levels of calcium, phosphate and uric acid (for gout).
  • Lipid Profile measures the cholesterol levels of LDL (“bad cholesterol”), HDL (“good cholesterol”) and Triglycerides. Abnormal lipid profile is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
  • Liver Profile measures the enzymes in your liver which may indicate any underlying inflammation of the liver due to certain diseases.
  • Hepatitis Profile assesses your immunity to Hepatitis A and B.
  • STD Test screens for underlying sexually transmitted infection.
  • Stool Test assesses for the presence of occult (“hidden”) blood in the stool which may indicate underlying colon cancer.
  • Urine Test screens for urine infection. The presence of protein or blood in the urine may indicate underlying kidney disease.
  • Tumour Markers indicates the presence of substances that are produced by cancer cells. There are specific tumour markers for different types of cancer. However, as non-cancerous conditions may also cause a rise in these markers, results need to be interpreted by doctors.
    • AFP (liver)
    • CEA (colon, lung)
    • Ca19.9 (pancreas)
    • Ca125 (ovary)
    • Ca15.3 (breast)
    • PSA (prostate)

Charazoi's ONCO-SELECT Multi-Cancer Early Detection Program

Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED), powered by LucenceINSIGHT®

The Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) test, powered by LucenceINSIGHT®, is a blood test that screens for up to 50 cancer types by analysing circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA), RNA (ctRNA), and cancer-associated viral DNA. Using advanced sequencing and machine learning, it can help identify potential tumour locations, with results available in 15–20 working days.

Most cancers arise from acquired (somatic) mutations over time rather than inherited genes, meaning risk remains even with negative genetic tests. These mutations can now be detected in the bloodstream before symptoms appear, making early detection crucial for timely intervention and better outcomes.

Why Early Cancer Screening is Important?

  • Most cancers develop from random mutations occurring during an individual’s lifetime, rather than genetic inheritance.
  • Cancer cells shed DNA fragments into the bloodstream long before physical symptoms appear, providing an opportunity for early detection and improved treatment outcome.
